Consultant, Rural Consultancy

Iain is a founder partner of BCM and has been advising clients in Hampshire since 1975.

His main areas of business are farm and estate management with a particular emphasis on the financial and taxation aspects of owning land.

He has his own 1,000 acre farm in western Hampshire and is a director for various farming and other businesses.

Andrew Bays BSc (Hons)
Partner, Rural Consultancy

Andrew is a founder partner of BCM and has been operating in Hampshire since 1991.

He is the managing partner of the business and deals with all aspects of rural consultancy.

He is also a director of a number of commercial and residential property companies.

Henry McCowen BSc (Hons) MRICS
Partner, Rural Consultancy

Henry is a founder partner of BCM and has been practicing in Hampshire since 1993.

His expertise focuses on farm and estate management (with clients from the Isle of Wight to County Durham) as well as being the lead partner for sales and purchases of farms and estates. In addition to his role at BCM he is a partner of his family farming and shooting businesses together with assisting with family owned construction and document management companies.

Partner, Rural Consultancy

Alastair became a partner of BCM in 2005.

He is involved in all aspects of rural consultancy and heads up the firm’s valuation department.

James Attrill BSc (Hons) FBIAC FAAV
Partner, Rural Consultancy

James joined BCM in 2011 having practiced in farm business consultancy and land agency since 1989. He heads up the Isle of Wight office.

His main area of work is land and estate management with significant clients both on the Island and on the mainland.

James has his own mixed farm on the southern tip of the island and is a partner in a substantial anaerobic digestion plant. 

David Long BA (Hons) P&D MA RTPI
Partner, Design & Planning

David joined BCM’s Isle of Wight office in 2013 and became a partner in 2015, heading up planning services.

He has worked both within the public and private sector, being firstly employed by a Local Planning Authority to spearhead major development projects. David then worked as a planning and development consultant and became a director of a multi-discipline development practice.

Partner, Design & Planning

Mike joined BCM in 2004 and became a partner of  BCM in 2020.

Mike heads up the architectural services department and deals with all types of rural development.

James Fraser MCIAT
Partner, Design & Planning

James became a partner of BCM in 2005.

James acts for clients looking to develop dwellings and buildings and takes them from the conceptual design stage right through to delivery.

Tom Woods BSc (Hons) MARLA
Senior Associate, Residential Sales and Lettings

Tom joined BCM in 2019 from a national firm and heads up our residential sales and lettings departments.

Tom is responsible for overseeing the marketing of residential properties for both letting and sale, as well as coordinating the management of let properties and providing advice to clients on the best strategies for either selling or renting.

Associate Partner, Rural Consultancy

Tom joined us from a national firm in 2014 and is involved in all aspects of rural consultancy and estate management.

Tom is also a director of a substantial joint venture farming enterprise operating across south Oxfordshire and Berkshire.

Ed Pettit-Mills MSc MRICS
Senior Associate, Rural Consultancy

Ed joined BCM in 2021 from a national firm and has advised on the management of rural estates throughout southern England since 2006.

Ed previously specialised in the management of substantial country houses and their estates on behalf of new owners.  He also carries out valuation work and all aspects of rural consultancy.  In addition, he is a partner in the family farming business in Hampshire.

Hannah joined BCM in 2019 having qualified with an Oxfordshire based firm the previous year.  She is involved in all aspects of rural consultancy and estate management.

Having joined us from a national land agency firm, Chris has been at BCM since 2010 and is involved in a variety of estate and farm management roles, specialising in rural valuation.

Charlotte Howlett BSc (Hons), MSc Spatial Planning, MRTPI  
Chartered Planning Consultant

Charlotte has worked for a Local Planning Authority as well as national private sector companies. Prior to joining BCM this year, she also worked as a Senior Planning Consultant within a dedicated planning firm with widespread experience throughout the southern counties and Isle of Wight.

Charlotte has considerable experience in a wide range of planning matters including appeal work, Certificates of Lawfulness, minor and major residential and commercial developments, farm diversification schemes and alternative green energy solutions.

Associate, Rural Consultancy and Design & Planning

Thomas joined our team in 2019 with previous experience in valuation and architecture.  Thomas' main role is to assist the Rural Consultancy and Design & Planning Partners.

He has project managed his own self-build and is currently working towards his RICS and RTPI qualifications.

Lettings Agent

Fiona joined BCM 2012 and undertakes all aspects of lettings and industry compliance.

Lily Walker BSc (Hons)
Graduate Rural Surveyor

Lily joined BCM in 2020, following an internship in 2019 and graduation from The Royal Agricultural University. 

Lily's main role is assisting the Partners and Rural Consultancy department whilst working towards her MRICS qualification.

Emily Thearle BSc (Hons) MSc BS
Rural Property Consultant

Emily joined BCM in 2021 from a Hampshire based surveying firm and has previous experience in commercial and residential valuation.  With a background in design, Emily's main role is to assist the Rural Consultancy and Design & Planning Partners.

Having graduated with a MSc Building Surveying she is currently working towards MRICS qualification.

Stacey Attrill-Butler 
Rural Property Consultant

Stacey joined BCM in 2022 from a Hampshire and Isle of Wight based surveying firm and has previous experience in RICS Home Surveys and Valuations.  

Stacey's main role is to assist the Agency Department and Design & Planning Partners.
